Ok, I finally finished my Miss Mustard Seed copycat project. Unfortunately, I didn't have the things I wanted to stage it with at home and it was going to the Antique Mall for sale, so the pics are all taken in my booth.
This was a fairly cute, but basically boring curio cabinet that my mom had in her living room before she remodeled. I had tried to sell it as it was, but no luck. Ok then, it had to come home for a remodel job of it's own. Of course I almost forgot to take a photo before I started, so I had already taped around the mirror, and you get to see my lovely unfinished basement with a few hundred other projects on going in the background.
A coat of primer and two coats of white paint. (I am still using up a cheap can of white paint that I had bought at Wal-Mart, it takes several coats to cover anything.) Then I distressed it and finished with a glaze of burnt umber and glazing medium. Finally, two coats of Minwax polyurethane and she was beautiful.
I think she turned out really pretty and she was my first attempt at glazing. I love how the molding at the top and bottom picked up the dark glaze, really makes her detail stand out. All of the items that I staged it with are blue's and white like MMS loves. I added the little crate and topiary on top for some extra texture.
I think this turned out great I have two chairs I want to glaze.
