Restyled Sundays #54

Welcome Back To Restyled Sundays!

Thanks for all of you who joined the party last week! You had some great posts and I really
appreciate you sharing.  I especially love...
These amazing apothecary jar makeovers by Angie
at Knick of Time Interiors She has these printables available
so you can make your own!

Helen from Picked and Painted created a real beauty
with two Hepplewhite dresses.

I love how Dianne from Shabby Gals madeover
an old broken down chest. What a great color combo
and cute organization. I need this in my sewing room!

And, finally I am totally crushing on this Princess phone
that Lynda from Something Created Everyday found at a rummage sale.
I had one similar to this in high school, sure wish I had kept it!

Thanks again for sharing. I hope you all come back and join this party
and be sure to tell your friends. The more the merrier!

Still Alive and Trying to Survive

Once again it has been a month since I have posted. A lot has been going on and I never could have guessed what 2012 would bring to our family.
We sold our dental practice and we are still dealing with that transition. Two more weeks and we are finished. Lots of stuff to sell still from there. Anyone need a porcelain glazing oven? Ha!
My parents moved to a senior living complex and sold their house in less than a week. Lots of stuff to sell from there, also.
Our daughter sold her house and moved home in July. She has made offers on 6 houses as of today. The others were all turned down and this one is bank owned and it may take a while to find out if it is accepted. We have learned not to get excited about a house since the chances of getting it are unknown. We just keep moving on and she has had a great attitude, if it's not meant to be it's not meant to be.
Our next big event will be the arrival of our 7th grandchild, but only the second girl. She is actually due on the 27th, but she is already to go as far as the doctors say. Maybe just a few days!!
I have been able to get a few projects finished with the help of my son. If I could get him to work a little faster we would be all caught up with the furniture in the basement.

This lovely vanity and mirror belonged to a very dear friend of my mothers. It
was a chippy white but most of the top had chipped off.

So, we decided to paint it the palest blue with home made chalk paint.
It is finished with Annie Sloan's Clear Wax after light distressing.
You can see a little of the chippy white showing through on
the front edge. I think it turned out lovely.
She is now waiting for a new home at Sentimental Journey.

Restyled Sundays #43 (I'm Back)

Welcome Back To Restyled Sundays

I am sorry for the unannounced leave of absence, but just when I thought life
couldn't get any busier, it did. And, once you skip posting for a week or so,
it gets harder and harder to sit back down. We have spent hours and hours with
our daughter looking for a new house for her. We have seen many things she liked,
but there is always something wrong. She did make an offer on one house, but
someone else made an offer about 10 minutes before she did.
Anyway, she has to be out of her house in 10 days and she finally decided to take
a break from looking and get packed. She is going to put her stuff in storage and
stay with us until she finds the perfect house.

I know it has been three weeks, but I am still going to feature my favorites
from the last Restyled Sundays, so here they are.
Barb from Turtles and Tails created this very cool patio
bar with her husbands help.

Homer Laughlin Egg Cup at the Salvation Army.
Check those out on E-bay!
photo to create this amazing vintage dresser.

Thanks to everyone who stuck around while I was gone. I hope you will all join in
for this weeks Restyled Sundays.

Old Time Piano Stool

I found this old time piano stool in my Father-in-laws attic this winter. It must
have baked in the heat up there for over 40 years. The finish had all cracked and was
impossible to even sand off. So, I decided to just use my favorite ASCP in Old White
and give it a new life.

It's such a cute stool with the leg supports I think it looks like a little robot!

The finish was pretty textured due to the weathered surface underneath.

A little distressing on top made her look her age.
Now if I had an upright piano, I would paint it to match.

Estate Sale Treasures

Saturday, my Mom and I happened across a
fabulous Estate Sale about a block from her house.
I found these amazing ship pictures and I had just recently started
scouring the antique stores for some for my family room.
There were 7 of them, so I bought them all,
and decided to keep these four for myself.

I really love the colors in the ones I have chosen for myself.
I am going to paint the frames off white. They really don't look as
good up close as in the picture. Plus, my walls are kind of dark.

This is an 1893 edition of Gray's Anatomy. I have a much newer one that
I studied from while in school, so this one was just too cool to pass up!

My mom found this amazing Duncan Phyfe buffet that she is going
to use for her big screen tv in their new place.
(I can't wait to show you how we decorate her new smaller home.)
I guess you can see where I get my traditional style.

We also got lot's of pictures and lamps and stuff at the sale, but I
want to show you my favorite buy of the week.
I found this beautiful mirror at Lone Elm Antiques where we have one of our booths.
It was their 1st anniversary and everything in the store was 15% off, so I had been
keeping my eye on this mirror for a week or so. It was still there when I got to the sale,
so now it is mine.  Just look at that sweet bird on top.

I don't even think I will paint it. It is just to perfect.
I will be sure to show you where it ends up when I find the right spot for it.
I hope I am not the only one who buys things without knowing
where I am going to put them. :)

Don't forget, Restyled Sundays is still going on through Friday.
I would love to see what you have found or restyled lately!

Whew! It has really been a crazy week, but alot of fun to spend time with family!
I have barely had time to read any blogs and I have alot to catch up on, but I bet I'm not the only one.
I have not been able to finish the giveaway package. It is in process and I will share it with you in the

Let's highlight last weeks linkups.

Good Time Charlie from Redoux redid this cute dresser in the cutest French Maid style.

Staying with the black and white theme, check out the before and after on this adorable chair from
And as cute as these two projects are I am loving black and white even more.

For the thrifter in me, I fell in love with this hat that Chelsea from
Kiss My Brass found at an estate sale.

Thanks so much to all of you who joined in.
I can't wait to see what you have to share this week!

Welcome back to Restyled Sundays! This is week seven and I am so excited to once again see what you have found and what you have restyled! Here are a few of the entries from last week.

Rachel from Fresh Squeezed Home made these BOOdorable letters for her Halloween Mantle/ Shelf.
Check out her great tutorial. These can be done for any holiday.

I love these reversible pillows by ELA at Scrapdoodlelicious.
Chevrons and Birds on one side and stripes and quatrafoil on the other.

And from Charlie at Redoux she takes a simple Goodwill desk and chair
and turns them into this very chic set. She is truly talented!

Now let's see what you've been up to this week.

Restyled Sundays #6

I totally should have started this party this morning, but we had a big triple birthday party to get ready for today. My dad turned 89 on Thursday, and my son and I had birthdays two weeks ago. We had the rest of the family over today to celebrate. I have decided that having company (even family) over is the only way I really get my house in order, so I cleaned all day before they got here. They just went home and I finally have time to sit down and write this post.

I am so excited because I got a Canon DSLR camera for my birthday. I chose the Canon because everyone told me it is so user friendly, and Sam's Club is having a great special package deal on it right now. I had no idea how much I would need to learn, so bear with me as I figure out how to use it. I am going to share some of my first pics, please don't judge :}

I did not do a lot of thrifting this week, but we did go to the grand opening of the new Salvation Army Superstore near us and found a few goodies. Here are a few of them.
These lighthouse plates by Oneida are part of the David Carter Brown Collection.
I just loved them (as I do love lighthouses) and will be keeping my eye open for more of these.
This sweet terra cotta pot with little roses along the edge.
And a Styrofoam topiary set for $1.00, what a deal.
A couple of great yardsticks to add to my collection.
This adorable owl wall hanging just seems to draw you in!

A mink headband! How fun is that for a special winter hairdo?

I guess for not shopping much, I did pretty well!

I really enjoyed seeing the great finds and restyled projects that you shared with us last week.
You have to checkout this fabulous lampshade makeover from Thinking Out Loud

She did this with some craft paint and sharpies, wowsa!

How about these great thrifting finds from Sally at Hum...Now What?
I am in love with that pitcher!

put together these fabulous book bundles.
Check out her site, she has some beautiful things.

Thanks again for joining in last week, lets see what you've got this week!
