The Post I Never Wanted to Write

Three months have gone by since I last posted. A week after my last post my dad had to go to the hospital. He was weak and could not walk on his own. We thought he just needed to get some fluids and he would be back to normal in a few days. We were pretty shocked to find out his kidney's were failing and three days later we lost him. He was the most amazing man, and it has taken a great toll on our family to say the least.
.
To make a long story a little shorter, we have moved my mom. and I have spent most of my time the last few months getting her settled in a new apartment. She is in a different senior living apartment where meals are supplied, so it much better for her. She has macular degeneration and cannot see well enough to cook for herself.
The good thing is my mom loves to go antiquing, so we have done a lot of estate sales to keep busy. It has been a big help. We have been taking all of our finds to our booths at Sentimental Journey and keeping them stocked.  We have actually had some record months this winter. I will try to start taking pictures and posting our finds. We love to go the last day of the sales to get in on the markdowns.

We sure miss you Daddy, but we are making the best of things.
Love, Ann

2015 and New Beginnings

A New Year, A New Look and a New Beginning

I guess you can see I have changed the blog's name and look. I wanted to update and felt like I was really more into my Flea Market phase and less into the furniture updating. I still will have projects to redo, but I really want to focus on my antique mall booths and shopping for them.  I have really had a good couple of months at the antique mall, and I want to keep it that way.
'The Flea Market Home' is more fitting to where I am with my home and my antique mall journey at this point in my life.  'Stylish Once Again', truly focused on restyling furniture and makeovers. I still want to do some of that, but have found the time is just not right, or available.  For now, I am enjoying the hunt and decorating with flea market finds.

I am currently in three booths at Sentimental Journey, an antique mall in Olathe, Kansas.
I am really enjoying having everything in one place. I have actually moved two of the three booth locations since my last post and am really happy with where I am now.  Moving around has taken a toll on my old body, but I think they all look great.

I love going to Estate Sales and will share my finds with you as I shop, but I also love shopping in the antique malls.  You can get some great buys, especially when other vendors are moving on to a new phase in their own life.

I have been starting to sell a few things on Ebay, and my husband has turned into a Ebay buff as well, buying vintage WWII aviator jackets.  I will be sure to link up those items as I can.

Here is looking forward to a great year with many new adventures.

Restyled Sundays #63

Welcome Back to Restyled Sundays!

Once again, I've been off track here and so consumed with life that I can't seem
to keep up with posting.  Sorry that I missed hosting the party last week, I am
trying to get my mom's storage unit empty and life has once again been
a little overwhelming.  We picked up our new dog and immediately fell in
love with her, but one of our other dogs is not so thrilled. We are going to
have to work on some group training to make this work. I'll share
more about the girls later.

Now let's visit with my favorites from two weeks ago.

Christine from Rustic and Refined took a very boring dresser
and turned it into this beautiful console table.

Lynda at Something Created Everyday picked up this
adorable nut chopper at an estate sale. It is just like the one
my grandmother had when I was growing up!

Lisa at {createinspire} turned a boring buffet into
this beauty with some teal paint and pretty knobs. Love it!

And finally, Jane at Minnesota Junker found a simple wooden
key and created this cool wall hanging.

I always love what you all have to share. Thanks for coming back and back!
Now let's see what you been up to the last 2 weeks.

Restyled Sundays #56

Welcome Back to Restyled Sundays

It is really true that you never know what tomorrow will bring, but when my
daughter in law called me on Tuesday in tears, I was really shocked.
There house had caught on fire. It was nearly a total loss, and worst
of all, they lost their dear sweet dog Buddy. It was Gods blessing that
they were not home and everyone is safe. They apparently had a faulty
switch on the stove and it turned itself on. It was a glass top range, and they
frequently set things on top of it since they did not have alot of counter space.
Now, they begin the overwhelming task of rebuilding. They are doing well,
and have some great support systems, but it will take time. Please, keep
Mike, Laura, Connor and Alaina in your prayers. And if you would, please
say a word for Buddy as well.

Now, on to this weeks party. You all shared some great posts last week.
My favorites are:
I am a sucker for all things British, so I love this
Union Jack cabinet by Cyndi of Blue Star Antiques
How about this beautiful Robin Egg Blue
dresser transformation from CreateInspire
The Joyful Thrifter was busy this week and found
this adorable toy sewing machine to help
decorate her craft room.
Lynda from Something Created Everyday, also had some great
thrifting finds. I have a new passion for vintage tea towels,
so this one made me happy this week.
Makes me want to get out to some sales.
NO, I must get back to painting at my daughters house!

I am so excited to see what you all have been up to this week.

Restyled Sundays #55

Welcome Back To Restyled Sundays!

Wow, another week slipped by and I did not post once.
I had such great intentions, but I have to realize that I can only do
what I can do. We have some great finds that I can't wait to share from
our daughters house makeover. But, this week ever spare minute went
to painting, painting, and more painting. Add working four days this week
and you can see why there were no extra posts :(.

I really was excited to see the great projects and finds that you all shared
this week at Restyled Sundays. I wish I could feature you all, but I will
just do a few of my favorites.
This amazing, incredible and totally cool staircase
was hand painted by This Green House.
Be sure to check out the hidden surprise that they built in.
What a beautiful furniture makeover!
This kidney bean desk is from CreateInspire and it
completely modernized this old piece.
I am a sucker for mannequins, so this one from
The Refeathered Roost  really caught my eye.
And finally, Something Created Everyday shared her
Perfect Thrifting Day. She really hit the jackpot with
these blocks and lots of other goodies.

I am so excited to see so many new faces here. You all have
some fabulous blogs and I love getting to see them.
Now let's see what you have to share this week.

Estate Sale Treasures

Saturday, my Mom and I happened across a
fabulous Estate Sale about a block from her house.
I found these amazing ship pictures and I had just recently started
scouring the antique stores for some for my family room.
There were 7 of them, so I bought them all,
and decided to keep these four for myself.

I really love the colors in the ones I have chosen for myself.
I am going to paint the frames off white. They really don't look as
good up close as in the picture. Plus, my walls are kind of dark.

This is an 1893 edition of Gray's Anatomy. I have a much newer one that
I studied from while in school, so this one was just too cool to pass up!

My mom found this amazing Duncan Phyfe buffet that she is going
to use for her big screen tv in their new place.
(I can't wait to show you how we decorate her new smaller home.)
I guess you can see where I get my traditional style.

We also got lot's of pictures and lamps and stuff at the sale, but I
want to show you my favorite buy of the week.
I found this beautiful mirror at Lone Elm Antiques where we have one of our booths.
It was their 1st anniversary and everything in the store was 15% off, so I had been
keeping my eye on this mirror for a week or so. It was still there when I got to the sale,
so now it is mine.  Just look at that sweet bird on top.

I don't even think I will paint it. It is just to perfect.
I will be sure to show you where it ends up when I find the right spot for it.
I hope I am not the only one who buys things without knowing
where I am going to put them. :)

Don't forget, Restyled Sundays is still going on through Friday.
I would love to see what you have found or restyled lately!
