I am so excited to reveal the updated desk that I showed you a few weeks ago. I can't tell you how much I learned in the process of this makeover.
She had a few scratches, but worst of all a formica top. At $18.00 on the last day of an estate sale, I couldn't resist the challenge. She is very solid and has tons of storage.
And here she is in all of her glory! I used Kilz Cashmere White on the desk and Krylon Oil Rubbed Bronze on the original hardware. I actually tried some new hardware and it just didn't look right. She is lookin' pretty sassy now! I did some mild distressing.
I am in love with it. It gives the most wonderful finish. It feels silky and smooth.
It takes a little elbow grease, but I think it is much simpler than poly.
Love that little desk~ and love how you painted the hardware! Simple and very cost effective solution!
ReplyDeleteVery cool makeover, thanks for sharing with my newbie party. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet, the distressing is perfection, just the right touch.
ReplyDeleteHey Ann,, dropping by from Debbies newbie party. I love seeing furniture become something completely different. Your desk looks great. I'm still a newbie at redoing furniture, I didnt know you should use oil based primer on laminate.. thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteThe desk turned out amazing! You got it just for 18 bucks? Unbelievable..it surely looks like a million now! I haven't redone any furniture yet, but my two nightstands could need to be freshened up now that I think of it ! Blogs like yours are great inspiration to me. :)

ReplyDeleteHey Ann, It looks great. I've been using paste wax for awhile now and I love the nice soft sheen. I've been wanting to try the Minwax dark pastewax and couldn't find it anywhere. The Ace Hardware on Santa Fe and Clairborne ordered it for me if you want to try it sometime.
