New Life For A Cute Little Footstool

How sad does this little foot stool look? She was tattered and worn,
but with legs like these, she was a beauty in disguise.
I think I paid $2.99 for her at Saver's
Sorry for the quality of the picture, this was moments before painting.
I had already taken the top off and just set it back on for the pic.
Here is after two coats of paint. Again, I used my new favorite,
now discontinued Kilz Cashmere White from Walmart.
If there is any left in your WM grab it
while it is on clearance. It goes on so smooth and covers rather nicely.
I covered the top with a new layer of batting and a remnant of the same fabric I had used for a pillow for my slipcovered chair. It looks like I took this pic upside down. The poor little bird is standing on his head. Here it is with the chair I had just slipcovered. In hindsight, I would not have painted the legs on the stool if I had been thinking of these two together. I guess that is what happens when you don't plan ahead. Anyway, I think it turned out pretty cute, and they probably will sell seperately anyway. Thanks for visiting and thanks again for all of my new followers for coming back and seeing what is next from my never ending list of projects. Watch for my upcoming desk projects. I have recently picked up two new desks and can't wait to get to work on them. Linking to these parties: Furniture Feature Fridays UndertheTableandDreaming

Slip On A Flirty Little Skirt

This is my first slipcover ever!
I am so glad it is finished and I am really happy with it.
I found this cute chair at an estate sale.
I thought she had such pretty legs and arms,
but her dress was getting a little worn out.

There were a few challenges to work out, like trying to wrap around her arms!

Some little ties hold her together.

And a flirty little pleated skirt shows off her legs.

Now she is all dressed up and ready to go to a new home!

Now for an update: I have been featured at Pink and Polka Dot, yeah! I am so excited! Linking to these parties:

Drawers of Knowledge

I am so excited to finish this project. I think it turned out great, but it there were definitely moments when I thought I was going to throw in the towel. I had done some small Mod Podge projects in the past, but nothing of this magnitude. I fell in love with Miss Mustard Seed's sheet music dresser, but wanted to try something a little different. I had picked up a large paper back dictionary at GW for 89 cents not to long ago and decided that this was the way to go. I started out with a plain white dresser I had found at GW earlier for $8.99. It wasn't anything special, so I wanted to dress it up and make it special. I thought it would be perfect for a kid's room because of the size, so I thought why not let the child learn something while they were getting ready for school. First of all, I had to sand it really well, because some one had painted it very poorly and certainly not with a Purdy brush! You should have seen how deep the brush strokes were. I really hate sanding, too. Next, I painted it Cashmere White which is a Kilz color from Walmart. Walmart is no longer going to carry Kilz paint, so they are clearancing out their stock and this color comes premixed. I love this paint. It goes on smooth and the coverage is amazing. If you have a Walmart near you , I would highly recommend picking some of this up before it is all gone. Anyway, after it was painted I Mod Podged dictionary pages to the drawer fronts and the top of the dresser. I definitely need some pointers on my Mod Podge technique. I have watched the video's at Mod Podge Rocks. Obviously I need to buy the roller that you squeegee the paper with to minimize my wrinkles.

The top of the dresser has randow layers of pages for interest.

I struggled with how to do the knobs and came up with

words to go with the drawer they were on.

Each drawer has a letter theme

She needed a little styling to make her pretty!

Now she is at home in my booth awaiting a home!

I would love your pointers on Mod Podging.

I hope you will come back soon to see what other great projects I am working on. Linking to these parties:

Project ADD and A Few Sneak Peeks

I haven't posted for a week, bu I have really been getting alot of work done on my projects. I have an ongoing problem with project ADD. I keep starting projects and not finishing them. Does anyone else do this? I tell myself not to get caught up in this, but while I am waiting for paint or Mod Podge to dry, I can't help but start another project. While you have your paint brush out you might as well paint several things instead of just one. And of course you migh as well stitch a little in between the other projects. Usually I have projects staggered better, but this week I have them all at about the same state of unfinished. Oh well, I will have a lot of projects finished at the same time.
This little dresser is going to be a wealth of knowledge.
This comfy chair is getting redone for my son's room.
This chair is going to the antique mall with a new skirt on!
This cute little stool is also getting a new skirt after her legs got a paint job.
Keep watching for some great finished projects.
